PRE-LAUNCH / PASSWORD-GATED

This legal baseline is for stakeholder review before public launch. No public checkout is enabled; final operator and public consumer-law details will be completed before the password gate is removed.

00

Pre-launch status

Tunisia Curated is currently a password-gated pre-launch project. No public paid checkout is enabled. Final legal operator/data-controller identity, business address and public consumer-law details will be completed before the site becomes public and before paid checkout is enabled. During pre-launch, privacy questions can be sent to hello@tunisiacurated.com.

01

Who we are and what this notice covers

This Privacy Notice explains how Tunisia Curated handles personal information when you use tunisiacurated.com, contact us, enter your email to continue a planning journey, request Trip Check or Tunisia Companion, submit a Local Voices or collaboration enquiry, or otherwise use the current public website.

For this pre-launch notice, “Tunisia Curated”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the Tunisia Curated project and team operating the gated site. The final legal operator/data-controller identity and business address will be stated before public launch.

02

Information you provide

  • General Contact: name, email address, enquiry type, message, optional WhatsApp number, language/locale and the page from which the enquiry was sent.
  • Selector email capture: email address plus generated trip/planning context, selector stage, request type, source page and internal classification information.
  • Trip Check / Tunisia Companion requests: email address, optional WhatsApp number, selected service, route or planning context, optional private/referral code, optional traveller note, source page and, where present, referral/paid-attribution information.
  • Atlas paid-interest requests: the same core contact details plus saved-place/route context generated from the Atlas experience.
  • Local Voices / collaboration: role, name, a WhatsApp number or email address, and any optional profile link, location, examples or message you choose to provide.
  • Direct communications: anything you choose to include when you email us, contact us through WhatsApp, or otherwise correspond with Tunisia Curated.
03

Technical and usage information

When you use the site, we also process limited technical and usage information needed to operate, secure and understand the service.

  • IP address and request metadata used for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting.
  • Country-level attribution derived from the request IP using a locally held MaxMind GeoLite2 database. Based on the current implementation, the lookup is performed locally rather than sending each request IP to MaxMind.
  • First-party measurement events such as page/module views, selector progress, paid-funnel events, saved-place changes and selected outbound clicks.
  • A generated measurement session identifier used to group engagement activity for a limited session window.
  • Browser/device, referring-page and interaction information collected by Google Analytics when analytics is enabled.
  • Server logs and operational records reasonably required to run and troubleshoot the service.
04

Browser storage, analytics and cookies

The current site uses first-party browser storage for functional features, including selector state, the current paid-funnel journey, Atlas saved places, measurement-session state and the coming-soon access gate. This storage is used to preserve site functionality or session context and is not the same as information you actively submit through a form.

The site also uses Google Analytics 4 to understand website usage. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers and may process device/browser information, page views, interactions and approximate location derived from network information.

Pre-launch implementation note: the gated build currently uses Google Analytics 4. Before public launch, Tunisia Curated will add the planned analytics choice so that non-essential analytics is not activated before the user choice required by applicable law. This control is part of the launch checklist.

05

Why we use personal information

  • To respond to general enquiries, feedback, press or partnership messages.
  • To review Trip Check, Tunisia Companion or Atlas requests and communicate about the next step.
  • To continue a planning journey when you ask us to send or retain relevant route/trip context.
  • To review collaboration or Local Voices interest.
  • To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve Tunisia Curated and its forms.
  • To understand how the site is used, which routes and features are useful, and where travellers experience friction.
  • To maintain reasonable business, security and support records, prevent abuse and protect legal rights.
  • To comply with legal obligations that apply to us.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the basis may include taking steps at your request before a contract, performing a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and improving Tunisia Curated, your consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations.

06

Who we use to process information

We use service providers to operate the current website and handle enquiries. Depending on the interaction, these include:

  • Replit infrastructure for website/API hosting and related object storage.
  • PostgreSQL database infrastructure used through the application to store enquiry records and first-party measurement data.
  • Resend for transactional/admin email notifications relating to Contact, email capture, Trip Check/Companion and Local Voices submissions.
  • Google Analytics for website analytics, and Google Fonts for web-font delivery.
  • MaxMind GeoLite2 data used locally for country-level attribution.

We do not sell personal information. We do not provide private enquiry content to a commercial or strategic partner for that partner’s own marketing merely because it works with Tunisia Curated.

If you choose to follow a link to WhatsApp, Orange Travel, Instagram, YouTube or another external service, that service processes information under its own terms and privacy notice.

07

International processing

Some service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you are located. Where applicable data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will use an appropriate legal mechanism or other permitted safeguard.

08

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, maintaining appropriate business and security records, resolving disputes, preventing abuse and complying with legal obligations. Working pre-launch retention targets are: up to 24 months for Contact and Trip Check/Companion enquiry records after the last relevant interaction; up to 12 months for selector email captures that do not progress to a customer relationship; up to 14 months for first-party measurement events; and up to 90 days for security/rate-limit records unless a security incident, dispute or legal obligation requires longer. These targets will be operationalised and rechecked before public launch.

09

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to certain processing of your personal information, and in some cases data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

To make a privacy request during the pre-launch period, contact hello@tunisiacurated.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. You may also have the right to complain to the relevant data-protection authority.

10

Marketing

Submitting a Contact, email-capture, Trip Check, Companion, Atlas or collaboration form does not by itself subscribe you to marketing. We will not use those submissions for promotional email or messaging unless you separately request or consent to that communication where required.

11

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No website, database, email system or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

12

We may update this notice when the website, our services, our processors or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted with its effective date.
